Applewhite campground is across from Lytle Creek in a flat grassy area surrounded by desert landscape in the San Bernardino Forest outside Fontana, California. The campground was named after Colonel Applewhite, an early Mormon settler to the San Bernardino area. Many of the pull-thru sites in the loop left of the entrance feature views of Lytle Creek Canyon. All sites have views of the surrounding desert landscape.
Fishing on Lytle Creek is a popular pastime, but the campground is also a good place to get away from the rush of city life and has the fresh smell of pine and mesquite. Running water and toilets are provided for the 24 RV and tent campsites, but no electricity, showers, or RV dump stations are available. The site rental is $10 to $15 per night with a 14 day maximum stay and the sites are available on a first come, first served basis. No reservations are taken. The Applewhite campground is open year round.
