Camping does require some investment but if you are among the people who are held back because of this, perhaps a dry-run of sorts could be more suitable. Thanks to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, all you have to do is bring food, drinks and sleeping bags and they will take care of the rest.

Campouts are offered on chosen weekends each month in different areas of the state. The cost is just $55 per family and this includes adults without children, scout groups or groups of friends.
