Glastonberry Solar Tent Concept
The Glastonbury Solar Concept Tent from the U.K. company Orange has called this “the tent of the future”. The tent has photovoltaic fabric, specially coated solar threads woven into the fabric. It can capture the suns rays and use them for some power later. Not only that, the tent has a wireless control hub to keep track of the energy generated and consumed. This hub has an LCD screen and a wireless Internet signal.
Another interesting feature is Glo-cation technology. This enables campers to find their tent using an SMS message or automatic active RFID tech. So if you can’t find your tent, simply send a text, and the Glastonbury will glow for you. If the temps should happen to fall beyond a set level, the groundsheet heat, an internal heating element embedded within the tent’s groundsheet, will automatically come on. Not sure when or if we will see this product in stores but if we did, I could certainly learn to love the great outdoors then!

Perhaps now a sunny week on a family camping holiday in France is not out of the question. Canvas, the leading tour operator for mobile home and camping holidays abroad, have negotiated deals with local businesses around their campsites, so that you can save even more money while on your trip. Some of the great offers include deals at local health spas, wine tasting tours, theme parks and canoe adventures, a far cry from the image of muddy trails and baked beans normally associated with camping holidays.
Paul Carter, Managing Director of Canvas holidays said: ‘A lot of adults choose to spend their summer holidays at one of our campsite as we offer many free activities for children, meaning, that if they choose, they can get away with spending next to nothing whilst on their camping holidays’.
